KVF

I am a mind of a monster in the body of a boy. I, a heavy evil highway bandit prowl by car and prowl by midnight feet. I see it in your sisters' faces, whips so wicked, ropes so tight, my fingers rip through garden perfume, body paint the bedspread bright.

I crave warm fluffy things. Kittens, hamsters, feathered fish. Crouching in the country heat, eating legs of chicken hawks, the barnyard grease dribbles down my chin, as I make an important inner space discovery while feeding my human body. My human body holds me its lifetime prisoner. I escape through the tongue splashing into smiles, tears, yells and screams. It is hard for me to appear when the world wants me to, on the surface of my human body. Materialistically the world expects me to communicate on its own terms. I look back and see none. Reality brings about a change. STRAIGHT PEOPLE ARE CRAZY.

By being born wild into this universe you are hereby endowed by nature with all you need for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The world owes you a living - flaming creatures. Go wild until you get it.

R.I.P. Stefan, Thanks for the Memories

Holiday Cocktail Lounge 2/9/09

If you ever walked into this bar you'd know who Stefan was.  If you never walked into this bar then you don't know shit about New York bars.  Follow the title link to a more fitting obituary courtesy of Vanishing New York.  Maybe he served you a mind numbing stiff drink before, only kind he served there, or maybe, particularly if you are a woman, he screamed at you and told you not to sit in a certain place.  Either way what we have here is the passing of a character, a certain type of person that is becoming extinct in NYC and this city is a lot sadder for it.  Rest in peace Stefan thanks for the drinks and thanks for being a refuge during the times International was shuttered.

Thank You Winter

you never were on this path were you?

Ah winter .. the great equalizer.  Thanks for coming back old pal and clearing the Williamsburg bridge bike paths of all the seasonal bikers and runners who so obnoxiously clog up that artery during the warmer months.  The population in Williamsburg has skyrocketed since I first started riding my bike over there in 1998 to see an old girlfriend.  This massive influx of exercise minded California transplants coupled with the city's newfound revitilization of bike paths, see Hudson Greenway and the East River paths, has lead to a massive amount of congestion and traffic.   The NY Times reports that bicycling in NYC has quadrupled from 2000 to 2008.

The Williamsburg bridge bike path used to begin slightly underneath the bridge (Manhattan side) where you would have to carry your bike up a massive 88 step flight of stairs which lead to the first part of the path.  The begins of the path were a rickety old boardwalk complete with loose boards, some of which would pop out a bit after your tire crossed over them.  You don't remember this, do you Williamsburg kids?  After a sharp left and a sharp right turn you would reach the main part of the path which is pretty much the same, except not as smooth, as the one you find now.  Then down the treacherous south ramp (the north one wasn't built yet).   I wish I had some pictures of "the boardwalk path" to post here.

The cold front last week when temperatures plunged into the single digits at night were glorious, no track bikers! no fixed gears! where were the hardcore Williamsburg faithfull who all ride the same bikes and carry the same locks in their back pockets?  Too cold  I guess, I did pass 2 mountain bikers on the snow covered bridge one night who were all smiles and greetings.

Please don't let it get warm anytime soon!
